CIPD and Saudi civil service to develop landmark HR programme
The National Programme for Qualifying and Developing HR Professionals in the Public Sector is part of the King Salman Programme for Human Resources Development
The Ministry of Civil Service in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the CIPD have agreed a landmark partnership to develop and deliver a national programme to upskill HR professionals in the public sector.
The partnership was announced at a ceremony in Riyadh attended by high-level figures from the Saudi government including His Excellency the Minister of Civil Service, Mr. Suliman bin Abdullah Al-Hamdan. The chief executive of CIPD, Peter Cheese, and CIPD board member, Yetunde Hoffmann, were also in attendance.
The new programme is part of the King Salman Programme for HR Development and is in line with the Kingdom's Vision 2030 and Saudi’s National Transformation Programme. Peter Cheese, chief executive of CIPD, the professional body for HR and people development, said:
“This partnership is a very significant and strategic part of our commitment to supporting and developing HR capability in the Middle East. We very much look forward to working with members of the Saudi civil service to further develop their skillset and help them to continue making positive and progressive changes in the workplace through good people management practices.”
The programme, delivered in phases over two years, will see HR professionals from various government agencies go through a number of development interventions incorporating CIPD’s international programmes.
This historic partnership forms part of the CIPD’s strategy to develop expert HR functions in the Middle East. It follows a Memorandum of Understanding it signed in 2018 with the Institute of Public Administration in Saudi to collaborate on research and thought leadership.
Highlighting the significance of this project, Ramy Bayyour, General Manager for CIPD in the Middle East said:
