Welcome to our branch area
A warm welcome to Birmingham! Outside of London, Birmingham is the largest city economy in the UK. It is the West Midlands’ regional centre of business, retail, leisure and culture. It is also the regional heart of employment with almost half a million people working in the city. Birmingham is within four hours of most of the UK’s population and business and is at the hub of the UK’s motorway and rail network, as well as being home to Birmingham Airport, the third busiest UK airport outside London and the South East.
As an employment centre within the West Midlands and a core city, the people agenda is wide and varied. Our branch is a vibrant community of circa 3,000 HR professionals, whose primary purpose is to promote and champion the purpose and vision of the CIPD through Championing better work and working lives in the Birmingham and wider West Midlands area.
As a branch our priorities are:
- Act as a channel to ensure that local CIPD members are given opportunities to network with colleagues, continue with their professional development and remain up to date with evolving HR issues.
- Work in partnerships with businesses, universities and other organisations to promote growth through people, and support increases in productivity.
- Demonstrating the value of CIPD membership to individuals and organisations.
- Have a segmented offer that enables people professionals of all levels to access resource, guidance, insight and knowledge that is applicable to them.
- Communicating to have impact.
- Running the branch effectively and efficiently.
We do this through a range of activities and believe you can benefit most from your membership by being actively involved with the branch activities. This may be through attending events, both on on-line and face to face (when safe to do so) events, contributing to our newsletters, participating in our online discussions. Whatever level of involvement you want have, we have no doubt you will find it both valuable and enjoyable.
Whatever your interests or specialism and wherever you are on your career pathway our calendar of topical events and networking opportunities will help you to develop your knowledge and expertise, add value to your organisation and develop a strong network of people professionals across a range of industries.
The branch committee work hard to provide a diverse schedule of events, enabling us all to share the benefit and expertise of a range of high-profile speakers and leaders in our profession. Our events and you can book via Eventbrite, which is updated on a regular basis, so please check with us on a regular basis for any changes or additions to the programme.
With almost 3,000 members, you will be part of a thriving HR community and we look forward to meeting you soon.
