Network with likeminded peers and discuss best practices in the world of HR and L&D
A very warm welcome to the CIPD Devon and Cornwall branch.
The purpose of our branch is to promote and support the mission of the CIPD, Championing Better Work and Working Lives.
Devon and Cornwall is one of most geographically challenged and rural branches in the CIPD network. We have over 2,500 members including a vibrant student community.
Our challenge is to connect with our members from all corners of our region. Learning from the pandemic, we aim to do this with virtual events, networking and some face-to-face events. We provide our branch members, potential members and student community with opportunities to network and link with like-minded people professionals and keep up to date with evolving people management issues as part of their continuing professional development.
We look forward to welcoming you into our branch network.

Branch Chair
The primary purpose of our branch is to act as a channel for member and potential member engagement at a local level, in accordance with the CIPD’s strategic priorities and in support of its purpose.
Our branch achieves this by encouraging local networks for practitioners, building capability, gaining new members, running events and working collaboratively on initiatives with other branches and other organisations.
We have a vibrant student membership and our Student Engagement Lead provides a link to our students and centres that deliver CIPD qualifications across our geographical area.
Each year we aim to deliver a programme of events aimed at all stages of HR and L&D careers. All events are available to view and book on Eventbrite. Our branch events also provide an opportunity to network with other members and people professionals.
We are part of the South West Region of branches and collaborate with our neighbouring branches to share ideas, feedback and to run larger regional online events.
Our branch committee is made up of 15 people professionals, who are CIPD members. We all volunteer our spare time, skills, talent, and experience in support of the CIPD’s purpose and to provide a local presence.
Our committee members dedicate their time to extend the voice of the CIPD through a portfolio of events, programmes and activities dedicated to engaging and supporting local CIPD people professionals.
We moved away from sub-regions to enable us to provide a more wholistic approach to our membership area. Our committee members take on specialist roles, working together to support the aims of our branch.
Our volunteer roles include:
Vacancies will be promoted through our branch newsletter as they arise. We hold recruitment events as a South West Region to promote vacancies and to provide members with an insight into volunteering.
