Thank you for visiting our branch page. The CIPD Branch in Hertfordshire is a large and thriving part of the CIPD community and I’m delighted to have become Branch Chair in July 2023. We’ve recently refreshed our branch committee and we are raring to go with a wide-ranging and enticing array of branch events coming up for you – please click through to our events page to find out more about upcoming topics.
Our aim is to provide an extensive and inclusive selection of events and we encourage you to contact any of the branch team and let us know about particular subjects or support you think the branch could be providing. We’re also keen to support members with the transition from student to fully-fledged member as well as the upgrading process – so if you’ve always meant to upgrade to Chartered Member or Fellow, get in touch and we can support you with the best routes to achieve your goal.
As you probably know, Hertfordshire is home to a huge number of employers and our branch is privileged to support people professionals working in the corporate, SME and the third sectors – many of whom commute to employers in London. Whether you’re in a standalone HR role, part of a corporate people team, working as a specialist (e.g. Learning & Development, Reward, Mental Health) or an independent consultant, the CIPD Branch in Hertfordshire branch is here to enable you to tap into the best of the CIPD and to share best practice, challenges, tips and ideas.
Ours is an active branch with regular face-to-face and virtual events taking place each month enabling our members to access know-how, thought leadership and share expertise in a way that suits them best and fits around their busy lives. We look forward to welcoming you to an event soon.

Get involved
Hertfordshire is a large and lively branch, with around 3,500 members and a thriving and supportive local HR community. We run a popular programme of evening and weekend events, designed to help local people professionals develop their knowledge and network with like-minded people. Sessions are a mix of both virtual and face-to-face with plenty of opportunities for interaction and discussion with fellow professionals.
Our branch events are listed on Eventbrite, and all forthcoming sessions are promoted in our regular newsletters. Book your place early, as our sessions are often over-subscribed. Our branch committee members are always keen to welcome those who have not been to a branch event before – you'll find us a friendly and inclusive group.
We're always looking for enthusiastic local CIPD members to get involved in the planning and running of our events. Joining us as a 'friend' of the committee is a great way to start learning more about what we do and contributing your own ideas. If you’d like to find out more, please get in touch.
Anyone can sign up for the regular branch mailing to keep updated with what’s happening or join our HR in Herts group on LinkedIn, which is another of our regular communication channels. Some of our events are put on at short notice in reaction to topical issues, and this is often the first place you will find out about what is coming up. The group also provides a great opportunity to network with colleagues, share experiences and make new connections.
