Welcome to the North of Scotland and Islands Branch page. I'm Judith McDonald and have had the pleasure of leading the branch since June 2018.
Our branch spans a wide geographical area from Aberdeen, west to the Outer Hebrides and north to the Shetlands Islands. We currently have over 2,000 branch members and run a varied programme of face to face events in Aberdeen and Inverness supplemented with webinars throughout the year. We also have an HR practitioners group that meets quarterly and primarily supports consultants or those working in stand alone HR roles.
Whichever way you engage with the branch, whether attending events, contributing to our newsletters, or by joining our branch committee or one of the associated groups, we have no doubt you will find it both valuable and enjoyable.

Learn about our branch
Our branch is run by a committee of volunteers who devise and run the annual programme of events running from September to June. Our main committee is based in Aberdeen but we have a sub group in Inverness who arrange all the Inverness based events, during times when face-to-face events are possible. Generally, we run branch events in the early evening which take place once a month. We're fortunate to be supported by local companies, universities and colleges so most of these events will take place on supporters’ premises.
We also schedule a number of webinars which we find helps us reach our members who live in more geographically remote parts of our branch area. Look out for topical online events which are listed via Eventbrite.

Special interest groups
We produce a branch newsletter which comes out roughly six times per year. This reviews past events, gives updates on upcoming events and shares articles written by branch members. Please ensure that your contact information is up to date on the in My Profile on the CIPD website and that you select the options to receive our newsletters.
Over the past few years, we have run branch surveys and have used this information to help shape our events programme to meet the needs of our members.
