A very warm welcome to all our Members. We are an active Branch with around 3500 members covering the West of England. We have three geographical groups – Bristol, Bath & West Wilts and Somerset and one special interest group – the Independent Practitioners Group.
We believe that the CIPD branch network exists to provide opportunities for all members, regardless of where they are in their career, to gain new knowledge and learn to apply that knowledge and share their knowledge. As such each year we deliver an extensive programme of events aimed at all stages HR & L&D careers. All events are available to view and book via the branch website. Do come along to an event, large or small, all of which provide an opportunity to network with other members.
The vast majority of our events are free of charge to members. However, there will be a charge to non members.
Sign up for Event Updates which go out once every one to two weeks. The updates will keep you informed on events running within the region.
All those involved in running the Branch are volunteers who readily give up their time to represent the CIPD locally. Their dedication and commitment helps make the Branch the member driven success that it is. Therefore I would like to take this opportunity to thank them on your behalf. New volunteers are always welcome. Please get in touch if you would like to find out more about how to get involved.
This is an active and energetic branch run by a group of volunteers. There are plenty of things going on, ranging from morning law updates, evening events, social events and larger events such as the West of England Branch Conference.
Joining us, whether by coming along to events or taking on a role on one of the committees, will expand your network of fellow professionals as you will make all sorts of contacts.
Our core values are:
- our commitment to creativity
- personal growth (for ourselves and our members)
- a strategic approach to running events based on the HR Profession Map
- support and friendship
- and the need to be broadminded and inclusive.
Whatever your career stage, from Student to Fellow, you can benefit from membership of the branch and the CIPD.
We look forward to seeing you at one of our events.
It is very valuable to receive your feedback on our events, so please complete the feedback form following an event. It is very useful to us when planning future events.
Bath & West Wilts Group is an active group which hosts an event approximately every six weeks. Each year the group has a varied and informative programme of events. In planning events the group tries to ensure that alongside covering the topical HR issues they provide CIPD members with opportunities to benefit from personal career development.
Bristol Group organises an exciting and varied programme of events which take place throughout the year from September onwards. This year's programme includes numerous employment law updates, events focusing on employee development and a variety of networking opportunities.
Somerset Group meets approximately every six weeks socially to plan and organise events. The group has direct links with local colleges and offers support to the students as and when they need it. The group aims to put on a mixed bag of events from employment law to storytelling. Each year the group's events programme is formulated to take into account all of the feedback received.
Independent Practitioners Group (IPG) aims to make sure that the needs and interests of CIPD members who are independent consultants, trainers and coaches are met. The IPG organises events as part of the branch programme. IPG meetings are informal networking meetings based around a specific theme. Each event is a facilitated discussion, with plenty of opportunity for participants to get to know each other, share their experiences and learn from the experiences of others. After each event there will be an optional lunch in a local café or pub for those who want to continue discussions or just get to know each other better. Note: These events are designed specifically for those currently working as independent practitioners, such as consultants, trainers and coaches.
