Welcome to the CIPD West London Branch
As part of CIPD London we contribute to the programme of events run by CIPD branches across the capital every year - and we hope to see you in West London whenever you can make it.
Our aim is to offer members access to an exciting range of free or low-cost events and activities each year - as part of the benefits of your CIPD membership.
Our events offer the chance to add to your CPD and make new contacts in a supportive and inclusive environment. We aim to offer interactive sessions and the opportunity to hear leading edge thinking from a range of experts in HR and OD; to consolidate our professional knowledge; and to network with fellow professionals, exchanging ideas and sharing experiences.
We try to cover hot topics that reflect the strategic focus of the CIPD year on year - as well as running groups that focus on particular professional roles and areas of interest. But all our events are open to any interested members.
We run popular employment law sessions during the year including a free evening update session – and a full-day paid-for workshop.
Our annual programme includes events that aim to provide:
- insight into a wide range of topics relevant to the future of work
- information about the latest developments in professional practice – including OD, L&D and Reward as well as Employment Law
- mentoring and career development (with our Mentoring Group & Career Advisory Group)
- help to those currently studying or just starting out
- a consultancy network – with sessions of particular interest for those working as internal or external consultants
The Branch is run by a group of volunteer members who all contribute to organising the branch events programme. Our events get a very positive response from those who attend – and we seek and act on the feedback and suggestions we receive. We do our best to reflect the kind of subjects we know are of interest to you – whether you’re a generalist or specialist, an experienced practitioner or just starting out.
In the past we have tried a variety of locations for events, but most have tended to be run in Ealing. However, as part of a developing partnership with our colleagues from the South-West London branch we are looking to run more of our events in Hammersmith this coming year - as this may be a little easier where we have members hoping to attend from both branches as well as more widely across London.
Please don’t hesitate to come along with colleagues or on your own. The events are friendly and informal, there is food and drink available and time to network and make new contacts, and whether you attend regularly or are coming for the first time, we look forward to seeing you there.
Paula Lewis & Carolyn Hawley
Co-Chairs, West London Branch
Our branch has over 3,000 members of all grades. The West London area is a base for a diverse mix of private, public and third sector companies and organisations – and this mix is reflected in the multi-talented make-up of the branch membership from students just starting out on their careers to well-established and senior practitioners.
This range of knowledge and experience can also be seen in the membership of our branch committee which includes employees of commercial companies and public institutions, independent consultants and academics.
Some of our key committee members are:
Carolyn Hawley and Paula Lewis, branch co-chairs
Julie Hadwin and Steve Toft, branch vice chairs
Bev Doyle, branch secretary
Jane Pepe, branch treasurer
Carolyn Hawley, and John Jackson, local mentoring group leads
Paula Lewis, CPD lead

Events across all London Branches
We are also a part of CIPD London – a collaboration between seven regional branches – and we are working together to strengthen the links between all our branches, draw on our collective expertise and contacts, and create and promote a London-wide events programme. So no matter which CIPD London branch you belong to you are welcome to attend events across the capital.
