As a Branch we aim to offer members access to an exciting programme of free or low cost events and activities each year - as part of the benefits of your CIPD membership.

Our events offer the chance to add to your CPD and make new contacts in a supportive and inclusive environment. We offer opportunities to hear leading edge thinking from a range of experts in HR and OD; to consolidate our professional knowledge; and to network with fellow professionals, exchanging ideas and sharing experiences.

We aim to cover hot topics that reflect the strategic focus of the CIPD year on year - as well as running groups that focus on particular professional roles and areas of interest. But all our events are open to any interested members.

We run popular employment law sessions through the year including free evening update sessions in September and May – and a full day paid for workshop in March.

Our annual programme includes:

  • leading Edge HR
  • professional Practice – including OD, L&D and Reward as well as Employment Law
  • mentoring and Career Development (Mentoring Group & Career Advisory Group)
  • student events – open to all members but of particular help to those currently studying or just starting out
  • consultancy network – with sessions of particular interest for those working as internal or external consultants

The Branch is run by a group of volunteer members who all contribute to organising the branch events programme. Our events get a very positive response from those who attend – and we seek and act on the feedback and suggestions we receive. We do our best to reflect the kind of subjects we know are of interest to you – whether you’re a generalist or specialist, an experienced practitioner or just starting out.

We hope you make the most of all the opportunities the CIPD branch network offers.

Please don’t hesitate to come along with colleagues or on your own. The events are friendly and informal, there is food and drink available and time to network and make new contacts, and whether you attend regularly or are coming for the first time, we look forward to seeing you there.
