A Profession Map suited to your every need

The world of work has moved on since we launched the CIPD Profession Map in 2013. New specialisms, ways of working and priorities have emerged as roles have diversified – and with them, the role of the people profession has changed forever. The 2013 Map still retains its relevance and validity, but we've just evolved into a new Profession Map to guide our profession into the future.

The 2013 Profession Map (as we are now calling it) still remains the foundation of all CIPD qualifications, continuing professional development (CPD) tools and membership standards. That means you can keep using this version if:

  • you’re currently studying with us
  • you’re thinking about studying with us
  • you're in the process of applying for professional membership via Experience Assessment or upgrading
  • you're thinking about applying for professional membership via Experience Assessment or upgrading .

The new Profession Map is designed to guide your work, career planning and development. If your plan is to focus on your CPD, then you can hit the ground running, using the new Map to develop your understanding in emerging areas as part of your CPD.
