HR in the Here and Now

The Midlands Area Partnership (MAP) runs an Annual Midlands Event every autumn, the 2018 event took place on Saturday 13 October and the theme was HR in the Here and Now.

Attendees joined us for an informal and relaxed day at Chesford Grange Hotel which is just off the A46 outside Kenilworth. Our keynote sessions were CIPD CEO Peter Cheese – The Role of the HR Professional Here and Now and Fiona Evans, HRD at the London Zoological Society – HR as a positive leader of change. Delegates had the opportunity to attend one of the following workshops:

  • Workshop A – Leading through extraordinary times – Carrie Birmingham will share her experiences of ten years at HRD at News UK
  • Workshop B – Threats, rewards, performance, drive: Who we are and how we work – led by Spencer Martin, L&D Innovation Consultant at Mobedia
  • Workshop C – Manager as coach: It’s not the soft stuff – it’s the hard stuff! – facilitated by Kim Morgan, Managing Director at Barefoot Coaching
  • Workshop D – Employee engagement case study: Trailblazing at Kerry Foods! – Head of Engagement Sam Wothers will lead this session on the award winning Kerry Foods initiative

Delegates also had the option of joining us for a breakfast session, Create a workforce of Self Leaders, which was run by our Event Partner The Ken Blanchard Companies. The day also included an exhibition area, a lunchtime HR Street Market and great opportunities to network with your HR and L&D colleagues from across the Midlands region.
