Sat at the heart of a proud and growing community of HR practitioners, members, partners, policymakers and thought leaders in the world of work, the CIPD is committed to ensuring that we give this region voice and recognition and that we reflect the needs of our members across the North. This includes working closely with HR leaders, employers and policymakers to enable and collaborate on fulfilling our purpose 'championing better work and working lives' in the North.
With 29,000 members spread across the region, it's a great time to be a CIPD Member in the North of England with a wide array of events and campaigns delivered by both our staff team and our committed volunteers, designed to raise the profile of the HR profession and the CIPD in North of England.

Meet the team
We're a small and remote team based across the North of England, whose primary focus is to listen, engage and support with on the ground relationship management. Through regular communications, facilitating connections between members, networks and communities and delivering diverse, impactful, and regionally relevant activities we are here to help you to get the most from your membership.

CIPD North – Regional Insights
Our new quarterly Northern Regional Insights update has been developed to give Northern members a voice to share best practice and find out more about how to get involved in local branches, CIPD campaigns and regional initiatives that support good work.
It features regular spotlight articles on Northern CIPD members - from inspiring students, innovative HR leaders to motivated Branch Chairs - and includes news and articles featuring Northern companies and members who are excelling in driving good, fair and inclusive working practices. In light of the COVID-19 outbreak and keeping the health, well-being and safety of our community in mind we have made the difficult decision to suspend all face-to-face events until further notice. Our HR Leaders Network engages the top of the profession in a peer network, shaping conversation and thought leadership on the future of the profession and the world of work.

Senior People Professionals Network
In the past few years, people professionals have stepped up like never before, taking on new and unprecedented challenges from dealing with evolving legislation to the constantly shifting challenges of new ways – and whereabouts - of working. This burden is taking its toll, and we know that burnout is a real risk for many. The new Senior People Professionals Network has been designed to help support your wellbeing and provide a platform to share best practice with like-minded peers.
You’ll also get the opportunity to find out more about our valuable membership tools and resources and how they can help support you in your role and advance your skills and knowledge.
This network is for north of England-based people professionals in senior roles, with responsibilities for strategy and management. These roles could include Head of HR, Head of L&D, Senior HR Business Partner, OD&D Manager, Assistant People Director.
The network is open to both CIPD and non CIPD Members.
Northern Policy Forum
We are consulting and engaging with policymakers on workplace practices by sharing our insight and analysis on national and regional labour market data. Our recent work includes working in partnership with Manchester Combined Authority and Liverpool City Region on their ambitions to raise good employment standards.

Northern branch network
The CIPD North team work collaboratively with the 10 northern branches which form the Northern branch network. Our branch volunteers are made up of HR leaders, practitioners, consultants, and academics from across all sectors, representing the best in people practice across our region. Together, we collaborate to shape our regional flagship conferences, identify pan northern region opportunities and the local branches’ committees act as an advisory board to ensure everything we do is regionally relevant and impactful.
