The CIPD has celebrated London Pride for the first time, joining the Pride 2017 parade through central London. The CIPD procession was led by members of the CIPD’s LGBT+ and Allies Network, who were celebrating their first Pride parade after less than 12 months of activity.

Speaking after the event, Wilson Wong, Founder of the LGBT+ and Allies Network and Senior Engagement Champion, said:

‘London Pride 2017 is a historic day, not just for the LGBT community who celebrate fifty years since the decriminalisation of male homosexuality in the UK, but also for the CIPD, who marched for the first time in its 100 year history. As an organisation we’re committed to building a world of work where all aspects of diversity and inclusion are celebrated and championed, so bringing together our community of passionate advocates at London Pride is a wonderful example of the change people can build together.’

The CIPD is committed to building momentum around all aspects of diversity and inclusion. Ciprian Arhire, Co-Chair of the CIPD’s LGBT+ and Allies Network, said:

‘Our commitment to London Pride shows that we’re excited to build our capability as an organisation and as a profession towards more diverse and inclusive workplaces. We plan to bring more opportunities for collaboration and community engagement into our LGBT+ and diversity and inclusion programmes, and look forward to more exciting events with our colleagues, members and volunteers.’
