The UAE Ministry of HR and Emiratisation and the CIPD, the professional body for HR and people development, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to help prepare young Emiratis entering the workforce.

The agreement means the two organisations will collaborate across research and thought leadership in HR and people development, as well as events, conferences and development programmes specifically aimed at young Emiratis entering the workforce for the first time.

The MoU was signed at an event in London by Her Excellency Ms Fatima Alhouti, the assistant undersecretary for national resource development at the Ministry of HR and Emiratisation, and Peter Cheese, chief executive of the CIPD.

Commenting on the partnership, HE Alhouti, said:

“The labour market in the UAE is very competitive at the moment, which requires the adoption of programmes that develop citizens’ skills in order to enable them to join the private sector. The collaboration between the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation and the CIPD will support career paths of young Emiratis taking up private sector jobs through attending workshops, training courses, and collaborating on programs to empower national human resources and to exchange thought leadership, research and awareness campaigns.”

Peter Cheese, chief executive of the CIPD, said:

“We very much look forward to working with the ministry across multiple channels to help develop HR and people management practices, which support people starting out in their careers.”

The MoU follows a number of strategic partnerships that the CIPD has agreed with the public sector in the Middle East. Most recently, it launched a landmark programme with the Ministry of Civil Services in Saudi Arabia in January to qualify and develop a pipeline of HR leaders in the Saudi government.
