Welcome to the newly formed CIPD Mid and North Anglia Branch area. We have around 3,000 plus members in our branch which covers a wide geographical area.
All Branch and Group Committee members are unpaid, acting in a voluntary capacity for the benefit of CIPD members and the Institute as a whole.
The Mid & North Anglia CIPD Branch has reformed as one group with a brand new leadership team and committee. Events will be held throughout the region as agreed at the branch meetings. Contact will be maintained with members, colleges and employers in the area. The Mid & North Anglia Branch will cover the whole of the area and there will not be additional branches/committees within the region. We are committed to running high quality events and activities across the region.
Our first event was the branch annual meeting on 21 May 2018 at Poets House, Ely where the new committee was formally elected. More will follow; so keep checking our Eventbrite listings.

Meet the new Mid and North Anglia branch committee below:
Karen Asher, Chartered MCIPD
I am a Chartered Member of the CIPD and have worked in HR for the last twenty years in a range of roles in the public sector. This has given me a wide range of experience in all aspects of HR Practice along with more specialist skills. I am currently an HRBP in Medical Staffing in the NHS working at both an operational and strategic level. I am very keen to promote and develop the branch within the region and look forward to the challenges and experiences this will bring.
Bernadette Fitzharris, Chartered MCIPD
I am currently a Chartered Member of the CIPD and have worked in a range of HR & OD roles during my career to date and am currently Head of Resourcing within an acute NHS Trust within the region. I am passionate about the profession and Co-Chairing the Mid and North Anglia CIPD branch with the aim of an ensuring an active branch offering a wide range of opportunities for group members at every level to engage, develop and participate across the region meeting the needs of all members and expanding the group further.
Sarah Dewsbury, Chartered MCIPD
I'm a Chartered Member with 15 years generalist HR experience in operational and strategic roles, on a national and international basis. I am really excited to be part of the new committee and being part of the team to deliver a variety of events across our region.
Carol Fowler, Chartered MCIPD
I am a Chartered Member and have specialised in Learning and Development where I have worked both internationally and in the UK within a variety of global organisations, including the oil and gas industry. I am currently in the process of creating the Cambridge Neurodiversity Hub, to bring neurodiversity to the forefront of the employment world. I am passionate about being part of a team that is committed to creating an active regional Branch to meet the needs of its members.
Kate Guberg, Assoc CIPD
I work for the Medical Research Council (MRC) as a senior laboratory analyst. However I am also very busy as Chair of the National Trade Union side which is a post I perform on top of my day job. As part of this I have had a lot of experience working with the MRC head office HR and also the government regarding staff transfers. I attained my level 5 certificate in HR at the end of last year after deciding to change my career to a more HR centric role in the near future.
Sue Sparks, Assoc CIPD
I work for Beat, a UK wide charity based in Norwich. I have a generalist role as the HR Business Partner, which includes L & D. Within my role, I am also responsible for a number of other areas including health and safety and governance. I have recently completed my CIPD level 5 qualification and I hope through supporting the committee I will continue to expand my knowledge and professional network.

Having held senior operational and HR posts for corporations and SMEs across East Anglia, I now work as a freelance HR consultant based in Norfolk.
Antonia Ciurea, Assoc CIPD
I’ve been working as Recruitment Administrator in the School of Clinical Medicine at the University of Cambridge since 2017. Prior to that, I undertook and successfully completed a Master degree in Human Resources Management at the University of Leeds where I took the option to add my CIPD designation. During my studies there, I gained a lot of knowledge of HR good practice and employment law that I am now ready to apply in the workplace. What really motivated me to do the HRM Master’s degree were the challenges that I saw HR professionals face at work, while undertaking my HR administrator internship as part of my Travel and Tourism Management undergraduate degree.

I am a dedicated HR professional with more than eight years generalist HR experience who fully appreciates the contribution the HR department makes towards the success of any organisation. Being part of the new committee gives me the opportunity to broaden my horizons, exchange ideas and engage with like-minded people who share a passion for HR development.
Stephanie Nunn, Chartered MCIPD
I’m a Chartered Member of the CIPD and have worked in HR for nine years primarily in Learning & Development within the Higher Education sector. I’m keen to get involved and be an active member of the committee and the wider CIPD community.
